I had just gotten off the phone with Ward. I had to share the news. When I had heard that another instance of the possibility of the return of the Elder Gods had been thwarted, and with only one wayward member of the Chamber involved, I just had to share the information. It definitely brightened my day, but just about anything after the funeral of Fae that Lark and I attended would. It was truly dismal, especially because Kyle was not in attendance. We had lost track of him a week ago. He wasn’t too pleased that we weren’t a bit more grateful that he had gambled our lives to prevent Nightmare Green. He was even less pleased at the fact that Ward had insisted he should be court marshaled. Though the Chamber did not find him guilty, he was more offended by the gesture than the actual prospect of being incarcerated or worse. We have not heard from him since.
When I had hung up, I returned to the supervision of moving out. The Chamber has decided to move my operation to the Beach, and due to the fact that I now only have one arm, the Chamber has loaned me a pair of Johnsons to set the ball rolling so to speak.
So what was the deal with the phone call? Simon asked, obviously bored with watching the Johnsons heft a large bookshelf with surprisingly little difficulty.
“Just wanted to make make sure Ward knew the blessing that had occurred without us having to step in.” I replied, still smiling at the news.
Which was? Simon grated into my mind.
“Calm yourself, friend. Apparently, the town Erlosung, the very town that had disappeared some decades past has returned to our world. The summary that was given to me was that it was the incubator to the child of the Yellow King, in which was the reason why an entire town had disappeared, that the souls in the town may nourish the embryonic mythos scion.”
I paused for breath as I let Simon internalize the information. He had no difficulty following, as he sent another pulse into my mind, urging me to continue.
“A single, long since stranded Agent within the town, along with an Unseelie Fae and two human mages, have confronted and destroyed the scion, burst the dimensional ‘egg’, and thus relinquished Erlosung and its inhabitants back to our dimension. The Chamber has cordoned off Erlosung to preserve the Secrecy, and now we essentially have another hidden base of operation for the Chamber. Whatsoever its uses shall be is yet to be elucidated upon.”
